Amethyst Tree Ancestry, LLC – Terms of Service

These Terms of Service describe how Amethyst Tree Ancestry, LLC provides genealogy research and consultation services. By scheduling a consultation, purchasing a research package, or engaging in any service, you agree to the terms below. This document creates clarity, and it also helps both of us move forward with shared expectations.

1. Scope of Services

Amethyst Tree Ancestry, LLC provides professional genealogy research, consultations, and related services. Research is conducted using historical records, client‑provided materials, and accepted genealogical methods. Because records vary in accuracy and availability, specific discoveries cannot be guaranteed.

2. Consultation Services

Consultations help clarify your goals and evaluate available information. The consultation fee is $25 and is non‑refundable, as it reserves your appointment time and covers preparation completed before each consult. If you choose to move forward with a package or custom project within 14 days, the consultation fee will be applied toward your selected service.

3. Research Packages and Custom Services

Research packages include clearly defined scopes and deliverables. Custom research may be offered at an hourly rate when your project requires additional flexibility or deeper investigation.

4. Payments and Deposits

A 50% deposit is required to begin all research packages. Work begins only after the deposit is received. Custom research requires a 2‑hour minimum payment to begin, with additional hours billed as needed. Final payment is due upon project completion and must be received before any final deliverables are released.

5. Refunds and Cancellations

Because genealogy research involves time, expertise, and analysis of historical records, fees are non‑refundable once research begins. The $25 consultation fee is also non‑refundable, even if you cancel or choose not to move forward. If you need to cancel before research begins, please contact me promptly so I can adjust the schedule.

6. Additional Research

If your project requires more time or resources than originally estimated, I will notify you. Additional research moves forward only with your approval, ensuring you stay in control of your project.

7. Deliverables

Completed research is delivered electronically through a private OneDrive folder after final payment is received. Deliverables may include reports, summaries, charts, images, citations, or other materials depending on your selected service. If your package includes a book, you will receive a professionally formatted, print‑ready PDF suitable for your chosen print‑on‑demand vendor.

8. Client Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information, respond in a timely manner, and communicate any changes to your goals. These steps help ensure a smooth and efficient research process.

9. Confidentiality

Your information is protected according to the Privacy Policy. All materials, documents, and research findings remain confidential and are handled with care.

10. Minors and Parental Involvement

Services are designed for adults. If a minor participates or provides information, a parent or legal guardian must remain present and actively involved throughout the process.

11. File Access and Retention

Your OneDrive folder will remain available for 30 days after final delivery. Please download and save all materials during that time. After 30 days, files may be archived or removed to maintain secure storage practices.

12. Limitation of Liability

Liability is limited to the amount paid for services. Amethyst Tree Ancestry, LLC is not responsible for decisions made based on research findings. All work is completed using established genealogical standards and best practices.

13. Modifications to Terms

I may update these Terms of Service as needed. Updated versions appear on this page with a revised effective date.

14. Governing Law

These terms follow the laws of the State of Georgia.
