Pricing depends on the scope of your project. Smaller projects, such as a single record lookup, may cost less, while multi generation research and custom reports are more extensive. During your consultation, I’ll discuss your goals and provide a personalized estimate before beginning.
We’ll talk through your goals, what you already know, and what you hope to discover. I’ll explain the research process, answer your questions, and offer a personalized estimate. It’s a chance to make sure we’re a good fit before moving forward.
Timelines vary depending on the package you choose and the complexity of your family history. In general:
Amethyst Seed (small, single‑line research): 4–8 weeks
Amethyst Branch (deeper, single‑line research): 6–12 weeks
Amethyst Roots (both maternal and paternal lines): 12+ weeks
Every family story is unique, and timelines can shift based on the availability of historical records, the accuracy of starting information, and your project goals.
The more you can share at the start, the better. Names, dates, locations, family documents, and oral histories all help guide the research. Don’t worry if you only have a little—I’ll start from what you know.
Depending on your chosen service, results may include:
-Family tree chart
-Written reports or narratives
-Copies of historical records
You’ll receive your results digitally through a secure OneDrive link. Your final package may include a written research report, family tree chart, source citations, and any relevant documents based on package or project chosen—organized in an easy‑to‑read and downloadable format.
Genealogy can sometimes reveal unexpected or emotional discoveries. I approach every story with care, respect, and sensitivity. Whether we uncover joyful connections or complex histories, I’ll support you through the process with compassion and context.
Sometimes records are missing, especially in African American genealogy where historical documentation is limited. If this happens, I will:
-Share the resources searched
-Provide guidance on alternative research paths
-Offer recommendations for next steps
Even if a complete record can’t be located, the process often uncovers valuable context and new leads.
Each package includes a defined scope of research based on your goals and the family line(s) selected. If your project requires work beyond what is included in your package, I will contact you before moving forward. Additional research can be added at the current hourly rate through the Amethyst Custom option, and all extra work proceeds only with your approval.
This ensures transparency and allows you to decide how you would like to continue.

Yes. All information you share is kept strictly confidential and used only for your project. Any family tree created for your research is kept private, and no one can view it without permission. While deceased ancestors may appear as hints to other Ancestry users, the tree itself remains hidden, and information about living individuals is never visible.
Absolutely. I offer one on one consulting to guide you through your personal genealogy journey. This is perfect if you’d like professional support while still doing the research yourself.
Most consultations take about 30 minutes, guided by the intake form you complete during booking. I also reserve a brief buffer afterward so our conversation never feels rushed. There’s no extra charge for this additional time, and your $25 fee is still discounted toward any package or custom project when selected within 14 calendar days of the consult.
Genealogy research is a professional service based on time, expertise, and record availability. Because research time and analysis cannot be returned once work has begun, fees are non-refundable once research starts.
While specific results cannot be guaranteed, all research is conducted using established genealogical standards and best practices. When records are limited or unavailable, findings and next-step recommendations are clearly documented and explained.
